Fonda Schuchmann died peacefully May 5, 2014, at Deerfield Retirement Community in Urbandale, Iowa.
Fonda Mae, daughter of Floyd and Esther Snyder, was born Nov. 24, 1929, in Strawberry Point. She was baptized Dec. 15, 1929, and confirmed April 18, 1943, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point.
She attended school in Strawberry Point, graduated in 1947, and on Sept. 3, 1948, married her high school sweetheart, Lloyd Schuchmann. Lloyd and Fonda's 65-year marriage produced three sons, Gregory, Steven and Jeffrey.
Fonda enjoyed playing the organ at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point for many years. She was well known among family and friends for her excellent cooking and entertaining. She loved being a homemaker, sewing, cooking, playing golf and playing bridge. She was also an active Red Cross volunteer for many years, and she had a keen eye for the color purple and wore it proudly.
Fonda is survived by her three sons, Gregory (Linda) of Omaha, Neb., Steven (Christine) of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Jeffrey (LeDonna Durant) of Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister, Dawn McGuire of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her brothers, Marvin and Kent Snyder.
Memorials may be made to Ewalu Bible Camp, Strawberry Point, Iowa.

Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point. Officiating: Pastor Chad Schuchmann and Pastor Pete Petersen.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Strawberry Point, and one hour before the service Saturday at the church.
Burial: Cass Township Cemetery, Strawberry Point, Iowa.
