Fonda E. Kauffman,
87, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, at her home surrounded by family. Services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home where there will be a vigil service at 5 p.m.
Survivors include her seven children, Jim (Becki) Kauffman of Greenville, S.C., Terry (Barbara) Kauffman of Lisle, Ill., Patty Kauffman, Paula Snow and Michael (Katharina) Kauffman, all of Cedar Rapids, Tim (Dodie) Kauffman of Marion and Kathy Hampton of Jesup; and two sisters, Bonnie Hutchcroft and Linda Hughes, both of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; grandson, Jacob Hampton; two brothers; and four sisters.
Fonda was born on Dec. 11, 1927, in Alice, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Birdie Trimble Oliphant. She married James W. Kauffman Sr. on Nov. 27, 1948, in Cedar Rapids. James passed away in 2011.
Fonda worked for several years at Von Maur in sales and retired from there in 1989. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. Fonda enjoyed playing cards, cooking, travel and was renowned for baking and decorating her famous cakes. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
