Foley, Marie A.
Marie A. Foley, 81, of Monticello, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade. Services for Marie will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello. Relatives and friends may begin to gather at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Al Polito will officiate. Inurnment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Monticello, at a later date.
Marie was born March 5, 1931, in Indiana Harbor, Ind., the daughter of Charles and Frances (McGuire) Thompson. She graduated from Bloom Township High School, Chicago Heights, Ill., with the class of 1949. On Dec. 25, 1950, she was united in marriage to William A. Foley Jr. at the First Presbyterian Church, Chicago Heights.
Marie lived in Chicago Heights, until she retired and moved to Monticello, Iowa, in 1992. For many years Marie worked at the Foley Travel Bureau as a travel agent.
She is survived by her husband, William; two children, Susan O'Rourke of Monticello and William (Pam) Foley of Hopkinton; and a grandson, William Foley of Beverly Hills, Calif.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Mark O'Rourke; two brothers, Carl Thompson and Robert Thompson; and three sisters, Helen Trenary, Florence Ziebell and Jessie Burtzloff.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Shady Rest Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque for all of their compassionate care.
