Flynn, Ruth V. Becker

Ruth V. Becker Flynn, 88, of Mechanicsville, died Thursday, April 22, 2010, from complications due to Alzheimer's disease. Funeral services for Ruth will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel, by Celebrant Mary Morgan. Ruth's visitation and viewing will be Monday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the chapel. Ruth will be buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville.

Surviving Ruth are her son, Marlin (Barbara), Mechanicsville; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Ruth in death were her parents, Edward and Kate Becker; husband, Edward; son, Terry; a sister; four brothers; and a grandson, Craig Flynn.

Ruth was born June 4, 1921, in Deer Creek, Minn. She graduated from Mechanicsville High School and married Edward Flynn on Nov. 9, 1940, in Iowa City. Ed died in 1998. Ruth was co-owner and bookkeeper for Flynn Motor Service, Mount Vernon, for 20 years, retiring in 1979.

Ruth loved the outdoors, especially working in the flowers and fishing. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life.
