Floyd Weis, 90, of Cedar Rapids, surrounded by family, passed to his heavenly reward Friday, Nov. 20, 2015, at Brookdale, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Services will be Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 11 a.m. at Good News Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors.
Floyd was born Feb. 25, 1925, in Cedar Rapids to Henry and Bertha (Kelderhouse) Weis. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening and visiting with whoever would listen. He was always watching a sports game and loved the Hawkeyes and Cubs!
He loved giving and receiving cards and never missed a birthday for a loved one.
Floyd was a teller of tales, a very loving and generous man, who will be missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish Floyd's memory are his children, Terry Weis, Lorri Hughes, Julli (John C.) Thomas and Dean (Debra Pizel) Weis; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his former wife, LaVonne Furman; loyal friends, Bob and Casey; and numerous stepchildren and stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna Weis in 1970; son, Neal Weis; and wife, Juanita Weis in 2009.
