Floyd W. Endecott, 85, of Central City, died Saturday, Janu. 22, 2022, at the Anamosa Care Center following a short illness. Per his wishes, Floyd donated his body to the UIHC Deeded Body Program in Iowa City. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. His family is planning a Celebration of Life service in April.
Floyd was born Nov. 15, 1936, in Amsterdam, Mo., the son of Melville Harrison and Viola Gladys (Ward) Endecott. He attended Central City High School, graduating in 1955. He married Cleta Lindley on Oct. 21, 1956. Immediately after high school, he went to work at Rockwell Collins as a machinist and worked his way up to a position as a buyer. He was employed by Rockwell for 39 years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, digging dirt, welding, woodworking and his dog Zoe. He loved Jesus and believed that, when his time on this earth was finished, he would spend eternity with Him. He found hope in Hebrews 7:25, "Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them."
Floyd is survived by his wife, Cleta; sons, Tim (Chris), Jeff (Rita), Andy (Kimberly) and Curtis; and daughters, Pam (Steve) Fischer and Cathy (Jon) Harvey. He has 26 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He also has a living sister, Sue Asher; and brother, Keith (Fern) Endecott.
Floyd was preceded in death by his father, mother and sister Doris.
