Survivors include his sister, Hazel Meyocks of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Don (Claudia) Durow of Cedar Rapids and Gary (Kathy) Durow of Center Point; eight grandchildren, Randy (Dee) Durow of Phoenix, Ariz., Christi (Glen) Gommels of Phoenix, Ariz., Mark (Jen) Durow of Houston, Texas, Stacie (Jon) Sefton of Cedar Rapids, Wes (Maryellen) Durow of Lucas, Texas, Alexis Durow of Dubai, UAE, Courtney Durow of Denver, Colo., and Jordan Durow of Marion; stepgranddaughters, Angie (Matt) Charipar of Cedar Rapids and Katie Bizzaro of Cedar Rapids; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 65 years, Bernice.
Floyd was born to John and Pearl Durow on Aug. 17, 1921, in Center Point, Iowa. He graduated from Center Point High School in 1939. That same year, he married Bernice King of Urbana. They lived and worked the Durow Century Farm near Center Point for over 64 years. He was an active member of the Center Point United Methodist Church and was always willing to volunteer wherever he was needed. In addition to farming, he also worked at Iowa Manufacturing (Cedar Rapids Inc.) for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1982.
Floyd enjoyed riding his ATV around the farm and keeping his lawn pristine with his riding mower. He was a devoted husband, a great father and a proud provider; a good example to all of the family on how to be a good worker, positive role model and how to live a good, clean Christian life. Floyd was greatly loved by his many grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the Center Point United Methodist Church in Floyd's memory.
