Floyd Donald Williams, 87, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on March 10, 2018.
His children and spouse will greet friends and relatives on March 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Stateroom, with a funeral service on March 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepard Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery following services.
Floyd was born to George and Frieda (Specht) Williams on March 25, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On July 7, 1950, he married the love of his life, Shirley, in Cedar Rapids. Floyd proudly served his nation as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked at ABF Trucking for many years, and enjoyed reading, driving, church activities and helping others. Floyd had a great sense of humor, which brought joy to everyone around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, George Williams and Leo Williams; and granddaughter, Sarah Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; son, Floyd Williams Jr. (Denise); daughter, Jessie Fisher; sister, Gertrude Plotz (John); grandchildren, Maj. Megan Spangler (Jake), 1st Lt. Zachary Williams, Mathew Fisher (Jennifer) and Jason Varney; and great-grandchildren, Madelaine Fisher, Nathaniel Fisher and Benjamin Spangler.
