Floyd Dirks, 79, died Friday, July 17, 2015, at Jones Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, where friends may
call from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello. The Rev. Katie Lowe-Lancaster will officiate at the services.

Surviving are his longtime companion, Judy McDonell; four children, Wayne (Kathy) Dirks, Central City, Donna (Clarke) Seeley, Marion, Steve (Deb) Dirks, Cedar Rapids, and Jennifer (Derek) Josephson, Portland, Ore.; a stepdaughter, Charity (Ben) Sullivan, Waterloo; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his sister, Marilyn (Ron) Coleman, Glendale, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Floyd Dewayne Dirks was born Aug. 18, 1935, in Matsell Mansion, rural Linn County, Iowa, the son of George and Minnie Eiben Dirks. Floyd attended the Cass Township school near Anamosa and graduated from Springville High School. He continued his education at the University of Iowa.
Floyd worked at Collins Radio as a design engineer on the Apollo space program. He later moved to Phoenix, Ariz., and opened a body shop, then came back to Iowa and ran Prairie DX in Prairieburg.
In more recent years he worked at Rockwell Goss and Clipper Windpower as a tooling engineer. He always enjoyed farming and was still operating his farm at the time of his death.
Floyd was married to Marva Andrews from 1954 until 1971. He was married to Suzanne Otten from 1971 until 1994. Floyd and Judy have been sharing their life together since 1994.
Floyd was one of the founding members of the Cedar Rapids Corvette Club.
