Floyd Adam Long, 88, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, at Grand Living in Cedar Rapids. A private family committal service was held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, with military rites by the U.S. Navy. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion, Iowa, is assisting the family.
Floyd was born on Jan. 12, 1933, in Atkins, Iowa, the son of William and Pearl (Falls) Long. He was a 1951 graduate of Marion High School and went on to graduate from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. Floyd served honorably in the U.S. Navy for two years and reserved duty for four years. He worked as a tool maker for Rockwell Collins, retiring in 1989. Floyd was a member of Cedar Hills Community Church in Cedar Rapids and Mizpah Lodge 639. He enjoyed hunting mushrooms, fishing, hunting and bowling. Floyd will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Long of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Jeff (Dixie) Long, Kevin (Candy) Long and Steve (Denise) Long; eight grandchildren, Jodi, Josh, Nick, Leslie, Jacob, Michele, Linsey and Max; several stepsons; and several stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Grace; son, Allen Long; and four siblings, Glenn Long, Gwenn Long, Grant Long and Harvey Long.
