Florence V. Schmitz, 98, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, June 6, 2014, at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center. Mass of the Resurrection: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, at St. Jude Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Mark Reasoner officiating. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Florence's name may be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice.

Florence was born Dec. 12, 1915, in Brewster, Minn., to H. Archibald and Anna (Nienaber) Watters. She graduated from high school in Hudson, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Arthur A. Schmitz on Nov. 16, 1940, in Wa-terloo.
She was a homemaker for most of her life. She loved camping and visiting the casino. She also enjoyed playing Bingo at Heritage Center and Linwood.
Florence is survived by six children: son, Jerry (Ann) of Arizona; daughters, Sally and Karen, and son, Dennis, all of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Phyllis (Lawrence) Koch of Newhall; and son, Steven (Rosy) of Medford, Minn.; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; as well as a sister, Helen Miller of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996; her parents; sisters, Marjorie Reddish and Mary Jane Jasper; and brothers, Bud and Calvin Watters.
The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Nursing and Rehab for the loving care and compassion given to Mom.
