Florence Emaline Kadlec, 83, of Center Point, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday at Brosh Chapel at the chapel.
Florence was born Sept. 17, 1931, on the Klinsky family farm near Ely, the daughter of H.W. and Stella (Novak) Klinsky. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1949. Florence was united in marriage to Donald Kadlec on March 2, 1954, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ely. Florence and Don farmed near Center Point for over 43 years. She later worked at Younkers-Westdale for more than 10 years.
She was a member of Center Point United Methodist Church, where she was active in many women's organizations, as well as Betty's Grove Homemakers Club.
Florence enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, traveling and spending time with her family.
Florence is survived by her husband, Donald Kadlec; son, Keith (Sharon) Kadlec of Hiawatha; daughter, Carolyn (James) McAuliffe of Long Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren, Michelle Bevins and Stephanie McCord; brothers, Glenn Klinsky of Ely and Harold (Dorothy) Klinsky of Marion; and her sister, Ellen Jones of Ely.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Carl Klinsky; brother-in-law, Edmund Jones; and her sister-in-law, Darlene Klinsky.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous or the charity of your choice in her name.
