Florence was born Feb. 15, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Jerry and Rilla (Piedlau) Stary. She graduated in 1957 from Roosevelt High School. Florence went on to attend the Paris Academy for Hair and was afforded the opportunity to travel to New York City and receive an award for hair coloring. She worked for Powder Puff, Pauline's and Armstrong salons. Florence married Lamont Constable; he passed in 1975. She returned to college, attending Kirkwood Community College. Upon graduating, Florence worked as a legal secretary for Kubichek Law Firm for six years, then as a bookkeeper for Alliant Energy for 15 years, retiring in 2001. During this time she met and fell in love with Roy Hall, spending 20 wonderful years of her life with him before his passing in 2009.
Florence was a member of St Paul's United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed square dancing, quilting and crocheting items for charities. Florence greatly loved her poodles and birds, collecting many poodle items over the years.
Florence is survived by her sisters, Gladys (Lanny) Poole of DeLeon Springs, Fla., and Nancy Vaughan of Bloomfield, Iowa; close cousin, Marian Janss of Belle Plaine, Iowa; and nieces, Lanette (Dan) White and Lisa (John) Murray.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Rilla Stary; first husband, Lamont Constable; second husband, Roy Hall; and sister, Mary Ann Vaughan.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at West Ridge Care Center for their kindness and wonderful care extended to Florence.
