Florence E. Buresh, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015, at her home. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Monday at All Saints Catholic Church. The Rev. John R. Flaherty will officiate. Burial at St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday where there will be a rosary and vigil service at 2 p.m.
Survivors include five daughters, Marie (Paul) Sullivan, Carole (John) Heefner, Jean (Jim) Bell, Pam (Allen) McGrew and Barb (John) Lindstrom; and two sons, Jim (Marcia) and Tom (Pat), all of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, Jenny, Kim, Suzi, Betsy, Robert, Caroline, Tim, Katy, Randy, Cherie, Anne, Jon, Amy, T.J., Matt, Brandon, Chris, Joe, Brian, Jamie, Chad, Jeremy, Angie, Lindsay, Lesley, Tina, Danny, Megan and Jack; 60 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Philipp and Loretta Claes.
She was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Jr.; daughter, Glorianne; granddaughter, Stacy; two brothers, Fred and Clement Philipp; and six sisters, Mary, Anna, Rosie, Martha, Ruthie and Theresa.
Florence was born on March 12, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Alwin and Mary Knapp Philipp. She married Raymond P. Buresh on Sept. 10, 1942, in Cedar Rapids. Ray passed away in 2014. She worked at Elmcrest and Indian Creek Country Clubs, as well as helping her husband Ray in their construction business. Florence was a longtime and faithful member of All Saints Catholic Church.
She enjoyed baking, playing cards and her trips to the casinos and to Las Vegas. Her greatest joy in life was her faith and family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
