Florence (Swick) Austell, 88, passed away at the Winslow House in Marion on Sunday, May 1, 2022, from Alzheimer's surrounded by her loving family. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 6, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with her niece, Diana Armbruster, officiating. Interment to follow at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery-Garden of Tranquility.
Florence was born April 30, 1934, in Watkins, Iowa. She was the daughter of the late Delbert and Bessie (Hutton) Swick. On Dec. 22, 1967, Florence married the love of her life, David Austell in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Florence enjoyed gardening and being a member of the Red Hat Ladies.
Those left to cherish Florence's memory are her nieces and nephews, Diana (James) Armbruster of North Liberty, Iowa, Cher (Ken) Brown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kevin Fitzsimmons of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Shelly Christopherson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Chuck (Christi) Sharp of Olin, Iowa, and Carl Sharp of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and her cat, Ginger.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two sisters, Edna Fitzsimmons and Delores Sharp.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Cedar Valley Humane Society.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at the Winslow House and St. Luke's Hospice for all the care and support they showed Florence while she was in their care.
