Flitsch, Marjorie L.
Marjorie L. Flitsch, 90, a resident of Hiawatha, Iowa, and Apache Junction, Ariz., died in Apache Junction on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, of natural causes. Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour before the service Saturday. Honoring her wish, she was cremated. There will be a luncheon immediately after the service followed by the burial procession to Lafayette Cemetery, rural Alburnett.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Rima of Florence, Ariz.; her granddaughter, Anna Adams (Todd Hansel) of Dubuque; two great-grandchildren, Austin Bird of Davenport and Jaci Jo Adams of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Leila Sloan of Alburnett; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merrill; a sister, Mildred McGowan; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jo (Hockaday) Flitsch; a brother-in-law, Lee Sloan; and a sister-in-law, Helen (Coleman) McGowan.
Her brother, Harold L. McGowan died four days after Marjorie on Jan. 14, 2013.
Marjorie was born Dec. 22, 1922, in rural Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Louis and Leona (Roman) McGowan. She was united in marriage to Merrill J. Flitsch on July 20, 1942, in Alburnett. He died April 11, 2007.
Marjorie enjoyed traveling, cooking, bowling, card playing and having fun. She so enjoyed life and her family and friends. She attended Rosedale school and McKinley High School. She belonged to Walker United Methodist Church and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She retired from Rockwell Collins as an executive secretary.
We wish to thank her wonderful neighbors and friends, both in Apache Junction and Hiawatha, for their loving and caring help.
