Flitsch, Lechelle “Shele” Dawn Allgood
Lechelle “Shele” Dawn Allgood Flitsch, 46, of Alburnett, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a courageous battle with breast cancer. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 25, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Pastor J.R. Henderson. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Shele encourages casual dress or pink. Private family burial will take place at a later date.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin of Alburnett; parents, Skip and Shelby Allgood of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Leslie (Jeff) Clauson of Cedar Rapids, and their daughters, Carly and Kelsey; maternal grandmother, Caroline Smith of Oskaloosa; mother-in-law, Eleanor Flitsch of Alburnett; four brothers-in-law, Melvin (Caroline) Flitsch of Cedar Rapids, Mike (Julia) Flitsch of Central City, Mark (Julie) Flitsch of Alburnett and Matthew “Bingo” Flitsch of Alburnett; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Russell Flitsch; a cousin, Kara DeHeer; maternal grandfathers; and paternal grandparents.
Shele was born Oct. 7, 1966, the daughter of Leonard “Skip” and Shelby (Netten) Allgood in Pella. On March 5, 2005, she married Marvin Flitsch in Cedar Rapids. Shele was employed at Bob's Place in Alburnett for several years. She then went to work for Wendling Quarries in Springville and Robins, where she was the scales operator.
Shele loved being outside, taking care of her flower gardens and spending time watching and feeding the birds. She was also known by many as a fabulous cook. Another favorite pastime was going on boat rides. Her dog, Shiner, also held a special place in her heart.
