Flanders, Michael John
Michael John Flanders, 52, of Arlington Heights, Ill., previously of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away March 31, 2012, after a courageous journey with pancreatic cancer.
He was the loving spouse of his best friend, Mary Beth (Arzbaecher); adored father of Kelsey, Adam and Paul; son of Mary (Herr) and the late Raymond Flanders; and brother of Thomas, David (Susan Ecroyd), Robert, Susan and James (Merideth). Mike was also a loving nephew, uncle, and friend.
Born Oct. 25, 1959, Mike was a passionate individual, a proud Iowa Hawkeye, avid fisherman, enthusiastic gardener and outdoors adventurer.
He had a 30-year career in the IT industry, concluding with Baker & McKenzie law firm in Chicago.
He will be remembered as someone who enjoyed life to the fullest, bringing joy, laughter and memories to all he encountered.
A celebration of Mike's life will be held at a memorial mass at St. James Catholic Church, 820 Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, Ill., at 5 p.m. (CST) Monday. A local Cedar Rapids celebration of Mike's life will be planned in the coming months.
