Fisher, Leo
Leo Fisher, 93, of Clarence, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Private services will be held Wednesday at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, where visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial: Clarence Cemetery.
Born Sept. 16, 1917, near Clarence, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Dettmann) Fisher, he married Wilma Tittle on Aug. 27, 1940, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Leo attended Prairie Flower Country School for eight years and, in 1935, graduated from Stanwood High School. He farmed in Cedar County for 27 years. During that time he was township assessor and worked for ASC. He moved to Clarence in 1967. He worked for the highway department for 15 years during which time he and his wife were in the photography business. He was a longtime member of the Cedar Church of the Brethren and served as treasurer for 35 years.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma; a son, Allen and wife Bonnie; a stepgrandson; granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; a nephew and family; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Frank Fisher Jr.
