Howard Fisher, 93, of Lowden, died Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at Genesis Hospital, De Witt. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zion United Church of Christ, Lowden, by the Rev. Barbara Muhs. Burial: Van Horn Cemetery, Lowden. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; nieces and nephews, Ardella (Sidney) Boots of Davenport, LaDonna Finch of Davenport, David (Linda) Fisher of Hiawatha, Robert Fisher of Lowden, Denise (Greg) Pingel of Ely, Gwen Johnson of Amarillo, Texas, Wesley Miller of Clarence, Michael (Pam) Fisher of Atlanta,Ga., Jim (Mary) Fisher of LaJolla, Calif.; and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arthur and Milo; sister, Kathleen Miller; nephew, Harley Fisher; and niece, Janet Fisher.
Born Jan. 5, 1917, in Lowden, the son of Homer and Caroline (Dircks) Fisher, he married Dorothy Boettcher on Aug. 7, 1949, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Howard had farmed and worked for the city of Lowden until retirement. He was a member of Zion Church and the Lowden Lions. He loved to travel; Dorothy and Howard traveled to all 50 states and Europe twice.
