Fisher, Cathy M.
Cathy M. Fisher, 59, of Iowa City, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Cathy Marie Madden was born April 11, 1952, in Iowa City, the daughter of Edward and Velma (Hora) Madden. She attended Iowa City schools, including City High School. She had married Dave Price on Sept. 14, 1968, and from this marriage she had two very beautiful children. She later married the love of her life, Gary Fisher, on Jan. 4, 1986. For over 35 years Cathy has been employed at Mercy Hospital in the central sterilization department.
She enjoyed life in many ways, dancing with Gary, going to the casino, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, doing word puzzles, but most of all, spending time with her very special grandchildren and many friends.
Her family includes her two children, Karmen Smith (Mark) of Lisbon and David Price (Cathi); grandchildren, Samantha, Tyler, Brittnee Jo and Shane; Cathy's siblings, Sandra Hora of Oxford and Richard Madden and Edward Madden, both of Iowa City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary; two sisters, Shirley Smith and Patricia McLaughlin; brother-in-law, George Hora; and niece, Cindy Hora.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Cathy's memory.
