Finley, Gregory A.
Gregory A. Finley, 62, a lifelong resident of Marion, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Services: 1 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, by Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Jim Parton. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, and after noon Sunday at the chapel.
Survivors include his father, Robert Finley of Marion; a brother, Mike (Malinda) Finley of Marion; three sisters, Kathy (Harvey) Thompson of Robins, Cindy (David) Pfiffner of Marion and Lisa (Curtis) Krumrei of Robins; a stepbrother, Brad (Mitzi) Nielson of Marion; and a stepsister, Julie (Jim) Camenisch of Independence. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Chad (Tammy) Finley, Tia (Donnie Craig) Finley, Tory (Angie Vogel) Thompson, Tiffany (Jeff) Pelley, Tierany (Lee) Virchow, Ryan Pfiffner, Taylor Pfiffner, Ashleah (Dan) Snyder and Adam Rotter.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Finley; and stepmother, Norma Finley.
Greg was born Oct. 23, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Robert and Betty (Herdliska) Finley. Greg graduated from Marion High School in 1970 and started a lifelong career with his father and best friend Robert, in Finley & Son Excavating. Greg also operated G & G Guns and Ammo.
He enjoyed camping, boating and motorcycle riding with his brother, Mike, and many others. Greg loved playing the card game Texas Hold'em at Cocktails, where he was known to everyone as “Uncle Greg.” He loved to tinker, build things, and gardening and canning.
Greg also enjoyed life and spending time with his family and his nieces and nephews who meant the world to him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
