Fifield, Jeanette Alice Yarn
Jeanette Alice Yarn Fifield,84, of Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away at home with her family on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010. Before her declining health, she was a resident of the Shannondale Retirement Community in Knoxville, for 11 years. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, at daughter's home, Riverdale Schoolhouse, 7009 Thorngrove Pike, Knoxville, TN 37914. The Rev. Betzy Elifrits Warren officiant.
Survivors include her children, Connie Whitehead, Sherry Kaniper, Kurt Fifield of Knoxville, and Karen Mills of Ames; a niece, Sandra Leggett Smith; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Fifield; a son, Scott Fifield; and a sister, Eleanor Lundberg.
She was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, and was married to Robert C. Fifield. They raised their family of five children in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where they were founding members of First Covenant and Cedar Valley Bible Church. They moved to Knoxville in 1991.
Jeanette was a wonderful homemaker and loving mother. She was an avid golfer and gardener, an accomplished singer and a member of Sweet Adelines and Shannonham Singers. Her kindness, grace, engaging personality and sense of humor won her many friends throughout her life.
Memorials may be made to French Broad United Methodist Church, Knoxville, Tenn.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents of the Shannondale community for all the loving care and friendships that were made while she was there. Thanks also to her Sunday school group from Mount Harmony Baptist Church for their supportive and kind outreach over the years and to Covenant Health Hospice Care.
