Ferris, Jeanne
Jeanne Ferris, 82, of West Union, passed away Dec. 27, 2010, at Cedar Valley Hospice in Waterloo. Visitation will be held at Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union, from 9 to 10 a.m. today. There will be a private family burial at a later date. The Burnham-Wood & S.K. Rogers Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
She was born March 28, 1928, in Oelwein, Iowa, to Garfield and Julia Thein. She attended the University of Iowa and graduated with honors in 1949, earning a degree in special education. In 1950, Jeanne was united in marriage to Duane Ferris. Jeanne worked in the Golden Public Library as a librarian.
Jeanne is survived by her twin sister, Joann Elmer of Stoney Brook in West Union; a son, Scott Ferris of Phoenix, Ariz.; a grandson, Nicolas Ferris of Colorado; a godson, William Elmer of West Union; and many nieces and nephews.
