Ferrara, Eugene A.
Eugene A. Ferrara, 91, of Monticello, formerly of Chicago, died March 9, 2011, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Services were private, as will be the inurnment.
Eugene Anthony Ferrara was born in Chicago on Dec. 17, 1919, the fourth of five children of Vincent and Estelle (Lindstrom) Ferrara. After graduating from Nicholas Senn High School, he entered an apprenticeship as a dental laboratory technician and spent the rest of his working life in that field, designing and creating dental prostheses.
He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, an excellent fly tier, a gardener, and enjoyed woodworking. He gladly shared his knowledge of these and other things with all who were interested. He sang with a group of friends in a local trio for the benefit of others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; all his siblings; and his first wife, Stella (Gedwell).
He is survived by his second wife, Josephine (McNeill); her children; and his nieces and nephews, who fondly remember him tutoring them in the arts and lore of fishing. All remember him for his loving support, good humor and gentle disposition.
