Fern Hope Kanellis, 91, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully on Dec. 27, 2015.
Fern was born April 6, 1924, in Cedar Rapids to Edward and Anna Kemp. She married the late George Kanellis on May 26, 1948.
She is survived by her daughter, Carmen (Richard) Jurgensen of Asheboro, N.C.; and her brother, Merle Porter of Marion, Iowa. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, George; daughters, Pamela Parker and Melanie Mullin; brothers, Edward and Elkan; and her parents.
Fern enjoyed cooking and canning, interacting with her grandchildren and the companionship of her animals.
Per Fern's request, there will be no services at this time.
