Felton, William J. 'Bill'
William J. “Bill” Felton, 75, of 5721 Richland Rd., Cascade, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at 3:57 p.m. at his home surrounded by his family. Friends and relatives of Bill may call from 6 to 8 tonight and after 9 a.m. Friday at Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade. Services for Bill will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Temple Hill, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be held in St. Peter's Cemetery in Temple Hill, with full military honors afforded by the Cascade American Legion Post 528.
Bill was born Oct. 14, 1934, in Monticello, Iowa, son of John F. and Mary (O'Connell) Felton. He received his education in the former St. Peter and St. Aloysius schools. On June 3, 1961, he was united in marriage to Betty Kirby. Bill was an Army veteran, having served as PFC-E3 (T) from 1956-1958. After serving in the Army and working in manufacturing he purchased the family farm near Temple Hill, where he continued farming until his retirement.
He enjoyed Polka music, dancing and reading. Bill will be remembered for his love of family, friends, community, church and his sharp memory. He was a member of St. Peter's Parish in Temple Hill and the Cascade American Legion-Post 528.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Felton of Cascade; four children, Jim (Brenda) Felton of Monticello, Mike (Joan) Felton of Solon, Pat (Jennifer) Felton of Robins and Amy (Danny) Koppes of Anamosa; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and five siblings, Fred (Agnes) Felton of Cascade, Jane Felton of Dubuque, Loras Felton of Ely, Robert (Diane) Felton of Anamosa and Mark (Kym) Felton of Cascade.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A William J. Felton memorial fund has been established in lieu of flowers.
