Feisel, Larry Clifford
Larry Clifford Feisel, 66, of Tama, passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Funeral will be Saturday, Aug. 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Brian Oliver officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama, with military honors.
Larry was born June 9, 1947, in Algona, Iowa, the son of Clifford and June (Chmelik) Feisel. He graduated from Tama High School in 1965 and served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968 during the Vietnam War.
He married Sharon Chyma on April 19, 1969, and they had two children, Lanny and Shannon. They later divorced. On Nov. 2, 1991, he was united in marriage to Kay Brandt and her daughter, Brandi, joined them in this marriage.
Larry was employed at Tama Pack for 28 years and later at Montezuma Manufacturing as a press operator, retiring in May 2013. He also worked at the Tama Livestock Auction since he was a teenager.
He was a standout football player in high school, enjoyed farming, raising cattle, hunting and playing cribbage; but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandsons. Larry was a member of the Tama VFW and Fraternal Order of Eagles in Tama.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Feisel.
Survivors include his wife, Kay of Tama; son, Lanny (Missy) Feisel of Belle Plaine; daughters, Shannon Feisel of Toledo and Brandi (Rick) Zhorne of Nashville, Tenn.; four grandsons, Lane and Wyatt Feisel and Dakota and Sage Zhorne; mother, June Feisel of Tama; and brother, David (Avon) Feisel of Chariton.
A memorial fund has been established.
