Fee, Earl Dean
Earl Dean Fee, 89, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton following a short illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St. in Vinton, with the Rev. Connie Wacht officiating. Interment will be held at Cox Cemetery, rural Urbana. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
Earl was born July 13, 1924, in Center Point to Vernon and Zora (Robinson) Fee. Earl farmed with his parents near Center Point before joining the Army and serving in World War II. Upon returning home he worked at Rath Packing in Waterloo and he also worked on the railroad. Then in 1954, he went to work for Iowa Manufacturing in Cedar Rapids and retired from there in 1986.
On Dec. 24, 1959, he was united in marriage to Bernitta Boyles in Independence.
He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by three daughters, Carol (Mick) Welsh of Williamsburg and Connie (Frank) Michael and Trudy Purdy, both of Walker; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his brother, Johnny fee of Vinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernitta; one grandson; and three brothers, Charles, Dale and Clarence.
