Fayram, Max Ray
Max Ray Fayram, 93, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Anamosa. Pastor Mark Buck will officiate at the service. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Anamosa.

Surviving are his children, Christine Fayram of Anamosa, Meredith (Stuart) Theilen of San Antonio, Texas and John (Marina) Fayram of Anamosa; and grandchildren: Cale (Stacy) Theilen of Abilene, Texas and their children, Kylee and Easton; Brook (Benjamin) Wright of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and their children, Alyssa, Jacey and Gunnar; Drew (Lindsay) Fayram of North Liberty; Keegan Fayram of Anamosa and Meredith Fayram of Anamosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty (2003); and a brother, Glenn Fayram.
Max Ray Fayram was born Feb. 2, 1920, in Monmouth, Iowa, the son of Clair and Ruth McFadden Fayram. Max was a 1937 graduate of Onslow High School. After high school Max joined the United States Army, where he served with the 94th Infantry as a 60 mm mortar man during World War II. He served in England, Germany and France. After returning from the service Max and Betty Schuchman were united in marriage on July 3, 1946, in Anamosa. Max went to work for the Kleanall Dry Cleaning business in Anamosa, later purchasing and running the business until he retired in 1985.
He was a member of the Anamosa American Legion, VFW, AMVETS, Chamber of Commerce and a former president of Iowa Dry Cleaners Association.
Max's greatest pleasures were gardening and Iowa Hawkeye sports, attending Iowa football games for more than 40 years. He was also involved with the Anamosa Swim Team for several years. But most of all he treasured the time he was given to spend with his family and friends.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
A memorial has been established in Max's name.
