Faye Helen Armstrong,
103, of Marion, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Summit Pointe Senior Living Community, Marion. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 23, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Monday, July 24, at the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Howard Chapman. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Faye is survived by her sons, Gene (Sandy) Armstrong of Springville and Gary (Sharon) Armstrong of Center Point; grandchildren, Chris, Laura, Michael and Krystal; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul, in 1982; two siblings, who died at birth; and two brothers, Bernard in 1985 and Donald in 2007.
Faye was born Sept. 6, 1913, in Blairstown, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Libbie (Miller) Chalupsky. She graduated from Blairstown High School. On Nov. 29, 1934, in Nashua, Iowa, Faye was united in marriage to Paul Armstrong. Faye worked at Linn County Rural Electric for 25 years, retiring in 1978.
She was a member of Eastern Star for 50 years and was a Past Matron. Faye was a member of American Business Women Association and First Presbyterian Church in Marion. She also volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital for several years, receiving an 800-hour pin.
Faye was an excellent cook. Her happiest times were when she could cook supper for you, babysit or just visit with you. She always had pie or tapioca ready on Sundays for whoever came to visit.
Faye worked very hard from childhood on the farm to being a farmer's wife and working at R.E.C. She loved to fish, take bus trips with her friend, Marcella, and car rides with Gene, Gary, Sandy and Sharon. Faye was very proud of her boys' accomplishments. She cherished her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; they were hers and so special to her.
Faye's life will live on through all of the family. She was so loved and cherished by all who knew her. One of Faye's favorite sayings was, "Just Keep Moving!"
