Fay Arthur Erion, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2016. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Friends may call after 11 a.m. until service time.
Survivors include his daughter, Jeanne Hunt of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Ruth Otto of Charles City; a brother, Don Erion of Mason City; his grandchildren, Sandy Helle of Marion, Ron Upham of Minneapolis, Rick Hunt of Cedar Rapids and Todd Erion and April Erion, both of Miamisburg, Ohio; and his great-grandchildren, Justin Bailey of Marion, Tyler Upham of Minneapolis, Jackson Upham of Minneapolis and Matthew Helle of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Howard, Roger and Jeffrey Erion; his sisters, Myrna and Kit; and a brother, Bill.
Fay was born Aug. 30, 1927, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Howard and Eva (Reese) Erion. Fay was a dispatcher for a cab company and a construction company in Chicago.
He loved fishing, reading and doing crossword puzzles. He always cherished time with his family and grandchildren. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed animals, especially feeding the squirrels peanuts off his patio.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
