Faulk, Thomas F.
Thomas F. Faulk, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, July 8, 2013, at his home. According to his wishes there will be no services. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Thomas is survived by his daughter, Sharon (Vassilos) Zafiris of Mobile, Ala.; son, Lonnie Faulk; daughter, Marie Faulk; and daughter, Tonaleen (Scott) Gerth all of Cedar Rapids.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Eunice (Roger) Gatlin of Montgomery, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eileen Marie Houck; his second wife, Gerda Lund; three brothers; a great-granddaughter, Angel Marie June Hall; and a great-grandson, Ryan Zafiris.
Thomas Franklin was born Dec. 16, 1923, in Wetumpka, Ala., the son of Talmadge F. and Annie P. (Davis) Faulk. He married Eileen Marie Houck. She died in 1982. He then married Gerda Lund and she died in 2012. He served in the Navy during World War II, ranked 3rd class and was the ship's cook. Thomas worked as a union steamfitter his entire life.
Thomas was an avid outdoorsman, spending his time fishing and hunting. He will be remembered as a great story teller and inventor. He was proud of driving President Truman's fishing boat for him in the Florida Keys, during his navy career.
