Gerda was born on June 24, 1928, in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of Ewald and Elsie Thourus Pohl. She married Stanley L. Lund on Oct. 4, 1948 in Berlin. He died in 1982. She later married Thomas Faulk in 1989 in Cedar Rapids. Gerda was a para educator for the Cedar Rapids School District and retired from there after more than 27 years of service.
Gerda was a faithful member of St. James United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, hiking, feeding the birds and rabbits, picnics, tending her flowers and little children.
Everyone will miss her laughter. She taught us to enjoy the simple things in life. Take time to smell the roses.
“The family would like to thank friends and family for all of their prayers as well as St. Luke's 5th floor nurses and hospice for the wonderful care given to Gerda.”
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. James United Methodist Church.
