Fattig, Doug
Doug Fattig of Spring Valley, Minn., passed away March 17, 2013.
He was born Nov. 22, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, to Marie Sutcliffe Fattig Byers and John Fattig. He graduated from Jefferson High in 1970, the University of Iowa a few years later and finished his formal education at Denver Seminary. He changed many lives by displaying his faith as he and Sara foster parented many young men.
He is survived by his wife, Sara; children, Jesse and Anne of Spring Valley and Sam (Amy) of Hokah, Minn.; mother, Marie Byers of Cedar Rapids; and siblings, David (Janet) of California, Larry of St. Louis, Dan of Minneapolis and Lynn Vosatka (Glenn) of Cedar Rapids.
Doug suffered from a rare disease called PLS for many years, displaying a servant attitude while being trapped in a non-functioning body in which he could not walk or speak. We are rejoicing that he is now in heaven running, leaping and singing!
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 23, at Hope Summit Church, 1315 Sixth Ave. SE, Rochester, Minn.
