Fassler, Robert M.
Robert M. Fassler, 83, of Blair House, Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at the Donna and Dennis Oldorf Hospice House after a courageous battle with lung cancer. A Celebration of Bob's life will be held at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p. m. Monday.
Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years; Arlene (nee Ferguson); daughter, Jill; son, Rob (Joni) all of Cedar Rapids; and son, Philip (Elyse) of Louisville, Ky.
Also surviving are two grandsons, Rob (Megan) and Kris Fassler; granddaughter, Jennifer Zahorik; and great-grandchildren, Samantha and Britti Zahorik and Taylor and Tate Fassler; as well as several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Fritz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Emil and Iva Lou Fassler; two brothers; one sister; and a grandson.
Bob was born on Feb. 5, 1928, in Kokomo, Ind. He proudly served in the US Marines. Bob graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering and Cumberland School of Law in Lebannon, Tenn. He was a 57 year member of the Iowa Bar Association. A member of El Kahir Shrine and the Masonic Lodge of Cedar Rapids.
Bob was a very caring and easy going person and very proud of his family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shrine Children Hospital or the Donna and Dennis Oldorf Hospice House.
