Fanton, Thelma Louise 'Babe'
Thelma Louise “Babe” Fanton, 98, of Marion, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion of natural causes.
She was born June 20, 1915, in Los Angeles, Calif., the daughter of Clarence and Thelma Small Stewart. She married Wilbur “Web” Fanton on March 30, 1940, in Las Vegas, Nev.; he preceded her in death in 1998.
She worked at Richfield Clothes in Waterloo from 1966 until her retirement in 1975.
Surviving are two sons, Brian (Mary) of Hiawatha and Craig (Colleen) of Waterloo; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one half brother.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at Kearns Funeral Service-Kimball Chapel in Waterloo, with private burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and also one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
