Fannie Hilsabeck, 93, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Per her request, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Private family inurnment will be held at Springville Cemetery in Springville, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.
Fannie was born on November 14, 1932, in Etna, Iowa, the daughter of Lammert and Fannie (Folkerts) Hemmen. On May 22, 1953, Fannie was united in marriage to Leslie Verle Hilsabeck in Grundy County, Iowa. Together, they had five children, and she was a homemaker. Later, she worked for many years as an assembler at Rockwell-Collins until her retirement. She attended Squaw Creek Baptist Church and Gospel Light Baptist Church with Leslie. Fannie enjoyed many hobbies, such as crocheting and playing cards, especially Canasta, with friends. Most of all, she loved spending time with family.
Fannie is survived and lovingly remembered by her four children, Rod Hilsabeck, Liz (Tony) Tosh, Linda (Bill) Nelson, and Debbie Berning; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie; daughter, Patty Sawyer; two infant sisters; sisters, Grace Hemmen, Jacobina Grabow, Hattie DeVries, and Florence Freese; and brothers, George Hemmen and Jacobus Hemmen.
