Fairbanks, Willis Terrill
Willis Terrill Fairbanks was born April 22, 1920, in Cass Township in Jones County. He was the son of Lester C. and Edith Clough Fairbanks. Willis attended the Hickory Grove School before graduating from Monticello High School in 1939. Willis held the Monticello track record for the 880 meter and 2 mile relay for more than 20 years. On Aug. 27, 1940, Willis and Frances Babcook were united in marriage in Bethany, Mo. Willis farmed, drove truck for Cliff Zimmerman, worked at the Anamosa Creamery and spent 21 years working for Castle Grove & Grinnell Mutual as a claims adjuster. Willis was a past Master of the Anamosa Masonic Lodge, Grand Lodge Officer for Grand Lodge of Iowa. He was the Pork Board Chairman in1975, 4-H Committee member and leader and a lifelong member of the Cass Congregational Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to donor's choice.
