Failor, Joseph Keith
Joseph Keith Failor, 49, passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Veterans Medical Center in Des Moines. Joe was born May 19, 1963, to Bill and Barbara Failor in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
A committal service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Ankeny Memorial Gardens, Ankeny, Iowa, with burial to follow.
Joe graduated from Ankeny High School in 1982. He had been an Ankeny volunteer fireman and served in the US Air Force for four years, then the Reserves and the Air National Guard. He also had been on the Fire Department at the Des Moines airport and worked in security for Firestone and Fisher Controls.
Joe is survived by his parents, Bill and Barbara Failor of Ankeny (formerly of Marion); daughter, Erin Nicole Failor and her mother, Cathy Failor, both of Altoona; a sister, Sherry Alice Failor of Ankeny; a brother, William W. Failor; nephew, Jared of Hudson; aunts and uncles; and his beloved black cat, Cretin.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harriet and Earnie Failor and Archie and Lucille Beatty.
Memorials will go to the Veterans Assisted Living or Hospice for their wonderful care of cancer patients.
