Faas, Donald
Donald Faas, 74, of Ames, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, after a brief battle with leukemia.
He was born Dec. 23, 1934, on a farm in Pilot Township, to Floyd and Irene (Hinrichs) Faas. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957, with service in Germany. He married B. Elaine Parks of Bloomfield on June 25, 1960. He taught at Ames High School for 32 years.
Donald is survived by his wife, Elaine; children, Michelle (Jim) Shaw, Tim (Beth) Faas and Nicole (Dan) Hart; grandchildren, Logan, Levi, Taylor and Caleb; two brothers, Robert (Pat) Faas and Richard (Doris) Faas; three sisters, Marilyn Pruess, Ruth Ann (Charlie) Gorsh and Esther Dant. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Memorial Lutheran Church. The funeral also will be at Memorial Lutheran Church on Saturday at 10 a.m., with interment at Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service assisted the family with the arrangements.
