Evers, Frederick D.
Frederick D. Evers, 67, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., after a short illness. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy; a daughter, Lori Erickson (Toby Rosand) of Seattle, Wash.; a son, Scott (Heather) of Robins; two brothers, Marvin of Tipton and Darrell (Glenda) of DeWitt; and a sister, Mary Ann Fehling of Clarence. He is also survived by a grandson, Verne Frederick Evers, and a grandchild to be born in January 2014.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Fred was born Jan. 25, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Fred and Anna Rehmke Evers. He married Kathy M. Fisher on Nov. 15, 1969, in Mechanicsville. Fred was a machine operator at Cryovac for 43 years, retiring in 2009.
Fred proudly served in the Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. Fred's greatest joy was his family and he thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with his grandson.
He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Heart Association.
