Everett Lee Squires, 78, of Center Point, passed away peacefully sur-rounded by his family Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at Center Point United Methodist Church, by Ken Graham. Family will greet friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Lafayette Cemetery, Lafayette.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Squires of Center Point; children, Julie Squires of Marion and Jeff (Kaylene) Squires and Jerry (Robin) Squires, both of Center Point; grandchildren, Randy (Trish) Bos, Russ Bos, Gary (Michele) Squires, Jeremy Squires, Amy (Gavin) Winterhof, Andy (Brittany) Squires, Zac (Rachael) Squires and Emily Morrison; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Kenneth (Joyce) Squires of Center Point and Leslie Squires of San Francisco, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jody Squires; grandson, Rory Bos; brother, Donald; sister, Leann; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Squires.
Everett was born Oct. 1, 1936, in Toddville, Iowa, son of Melvin and Amy (Jones) Squires. He graduated from Center Point High School. Everett married Darlene Sanders on Oct. 7, 1956, at Palo Methodist Church. He farmed all of his life on the family century farm.
Everett enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and snowmobiling, but his main love was family and farming.
A memorial fund has been established.
