Everett J. Schuman, 79, of Earlville, died Wednes-day, Jan. 21, 2015, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave. SW, in Dyersville, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service held at 4 p.m. Visitation also will be Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home before the funeral Mass. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jeffrey Dole will officiate.
Everett was born Dec. 12, 1935, in Keota, Iowa, the son of John and Edna "Ruth" (Heddinghaus) Schuman. He married Darline Feldman on Feb. 19, 1957, in St. Paul Catholic Church, Worthington, Iowa. Together they raised their family and farmed near Earlville until retiring and moving to town in 1995. Everett also worked as an Archer Oil county manager and a Mycogen seed corn dealer.
He enjoyed playing cards, traveling, working in his shop fixing things and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Darline; seven children: Diana (Ron) Digmann of Cedar Rapids, Steve (Donna) Schuman of Greeley, Dave (Kim) Schuman of Elk Grove, Ill., Linda (Dan) Olberding of Dyersville, Nancy (Neal) Conrad of Hopkinton, Beverly (Kevin) DeMoss of Dubuque and Larry (Laura) Schuman of Earlville; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Emmett (Bernadette) Schuman of Independence, Elmer (Julie) Schuman of Dyersville, Elias (Roxann) Schuman of Excello, Mo., Francine Tucker of Manchester, Flavia (Dale) Talley of Oak Grove, Mo., and Fay (Fred) Coimarco of Little Rock, Ark.; in-laws, Karyl Schuman of Shorewood, Ill., and Herman Kadlec of Wahoo, Neb.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Schuman; parents-in-law, Joe and Vi Feldman; one son, Ronald, in 2013; siblings, Edward Schuman, Frieda Schuman (in infancy) and Fern Kadlec; and in-laws, Fred Juhl and Carl Tucker.
