EVELYN ELAINE (FUNK) NUEHRING

Evelyn Elaine (Funk) Nuehring, 71, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church by the Rev. David Aanonson. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Teahen Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 50 years, Daniel; two daughters, Jill (David) Rehak of Cedar Rapids and Lisa (Shanon) Gutierrez of Anamosa; six grandchildren, Brittany and Zachary Rehak, Brittni (Travis) Timm, Austin Gutierrez, Alyssa Owens and Chelsie Franks; two great-grandsons, Brody Rehak and Luka Timm; two brothers, James (Beverly) Funk and Delbert (Marilyn) Funk; brother-in-law, Stanley (Diana) Nuehring; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Nuehring; many nieces; and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; baby brother; and brother-in-law, Mark Nuehring.
Evelyn was born June 30, 1947, in Colesburg, the daughter of Clarke and Alberta Jones Funk. She graduated from Edgewood-Colesburg High School in 1965 and received her cosmetology degree from Young's Beauty School. Evelyn married Daniel Nuehring on Jan. 18, 1968, in Luana.
She worked at Collins Community Credit Union and as an administrative assistant at the city of Cedar Rapids Golf Department from 1995 to 2011.
Evelyn loved her husband, daughters, sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed baking, knitting, sewing, traveling to see lighthouses, camping and watching hummingbirds and goldfinches.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family, who will be splitting the funds between the Sarcoma Foundation and Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church.
