EVELYN ALICE BUCHHOLTZ MEIERS

Evelyn Alice Buchholtz Meiers, 85, formerly of Tipton, died peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday night, April 15, 2017, at the Lutheran Homes Society, Muscatine. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 20, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tipton. Burial will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Visitation for Evelyn will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton.

Evelyn was born Dec. 7, 1931, in Alta Vista, Iowa, the daughter of Louie and Bess Machin Buchholtz. She graduated from Riceville High School in 1951. On Aug. 30, 1964, Evelyn was united in marriage to Richard Alvis Meiers in Tipton. Evelyn worked as a sales clerk and the service desk manager for Wal-Mart until her retirement in March 1998. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Tipton.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Debra (Jim) Gerardy of Maquoketa; her sons, Dennis (Shirley) Meiers of Port Byron, Ill., and Richard (Lisa) Meiers of Solon; her seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her brother, Dean F. Buchholtz of Morris, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Meiers; and her sister, Rose Marie Miller.
