Evelyn was born on June 22, 1929, in her family's farmhouse outside of Solon, Iowa, to Joseph and Marie (Breza) Unick. Evelyn married the love of her life, Louie Kral Jr., on September 14, 1948. Together they built a life centered around family, community, and hard work. Evelyn and Louie raised four children: Bob Kral (Pam), Rita Griffin (Paul), Rick Kral (Sharon), and Ron Kral. She was a proud grandmother to Angela Jacoby (Matt), Megan Kempnich (Brian), Lisa Kral-Lauterbach (Cody), Lindsay Kral, Chad Griffin, Sara Griffin (Nate McAvan), great-grandmother of seven, and great-great-grandmother of two.
Evelyn's early education began at Stone Academy, a one-room schoolhouse near Solon, before she graduated from Solon High School. She went on to work for the Solon Community School District for over 20 years, where she touched the lives of countless students and staff with her warmth and dedication.
In addition to her work at the Solon Schools, Evelyn and Louie operated E and L Shell in Solon for many years. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon, where she served with the Altar and Rosary Society, and she volunteered at the Solon Care Center.
Evelyn was known for her love of cooking, especially when it came to feeding family and friends. She had a deep appreciation for polka music and a boundless devotion to her loved ones. Her generosity, strength, and gentle spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marie Unick, and her beloved husband, Louie Kral Jr.
A life well lived, Evelyn will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
