EVELYN L. MILLER
Cedar Rapids
On Dec. 28, 2021, the world lost a tremendously generous, kind, forgiving woman. Evelyn L. Miller was not only a mother, sister, daughter, friend, wife, and grandmother - she was the matriarch of the family.
Evelyn, 87, was born Oct. 2, 1934. She enjoyed playing bingo, taking road trips, fishing, cooking, listening to music, gardening, taking care of all the birds, camping, The Chicago Cubs, being a friend, and taking care of family. She was ALWAYS taking care of family. She was the glue that kept the family together. You could drive by Gram Miller's house and take bets on whether she would be home or not. Most times not, due to the many things listed above.
If you stopped by and she was home, it was a win-win for everyone. You would walk into the kitchen and get greeted by birds and an occasional dog that she took in. You immediately had something to drink and a snack if you wanted, ready in seconds. You would spend one hour chatting about life and you'd be all caught up like you never skipped a beat even if it had been a while since the last visit. There would always be time for a selfie or a picture of some sort before saying goodbye until next time.
She is survived by her children, Rick Miller of Cedar Rapids, Roxanne Carnicle of Cedar Rapids, Rhonda (Larry) Lodermier of Owatonna, Minn., seven grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents, brother, sister; and grandson, Austin Miller.
Per Evelyn's wishes, there will be no services.
