Evelyn Mary Oehlerich Hartz, 92, died Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 24, at Central Presbyterian Church in Newhall with Gene Spicer officiating. Interment will be held at Raetz Cemetery, near Newhall. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone.
A memorial fund has been established.
Evelyn was born Feb. 26, 1923, near Keystone, to Henry and Rosa (Tecklenburg) Oehlerich and attended Kane No. 5 Country School. She graduated from Keystone High School in 1941. On Feb. 19, 1945, she was united in marriage to Leo Hartz. The couple farmed near Newhall until 1979 when they moved into Newhall. Leo preceded her in death on March 21, 2000.
A longtime member of Central Presbyterian Church in Newhall, Evelyn had served as an elder in her congregation.
She is survived by her children, Daniel (Dianne) Hartz of Atkins, Joyce (Rolyn) Klaassen of Peachtree City, Ga., and Keith (Karen) Hartz of Elkhorn, Neb.; her grandsons, Jeff (Jenny) Hartz and their children, Gretta and Libby of Runnells and Jason Hartz of Geneva, Ill.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ray, Robert and Roland Oehlerich; and her sisters, Eleanor Schneider and Elaine Ceasar.
