Evelyn Frances Gunderson, 96, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, at The Meth-Wick Community in Cedar Rapids.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Evelyn was born Dec. 4, 1920, to Thomas Edward Seilhamer and Avis Mae Fuller in Newhall, Iowa. Evelyn attended school in Newhall, where she played basketball and graduated with the Class of 1938. Following high school, she attended Paris Academy and Cedar Rapids Business College. On March 13, 1948, she married Andrew Gunderson. The couple lived in Springville, where she and Andy managed a grain and livestock farm. Upon their retirement, the couple moved to Marion for a few years before making their home at The Meth-Wick Community in Cedar Rapids.
Evelyn enjoyed sewing and crafts, but her greatest passion was bowling she competed in several leagues and won many trophies.
Evelyn will be missed by her two great-nephews, Brad Sellers of Skokie, Ill., and Richard (Wendy) Sellers of Mechanicsville, Va.; one great-niece, Roberta Sellers of Beaverdam, Va.; nine great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and one great-great-great-nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew; three sisters, Lucille Seilhamer, Mildred Baumgartner and Leona Barry; and one niece, Kathryn Barry Sellers.
